Police in Slidell, Louisiana, are searching for a man who faked being injured to carry out a daring bank robbery earlier this month.
According to the Slidell Police Department, the suspect entered the bank on November 7 appearing handicapped — walking with a limp, leaning on a cane, and wearing a neck brace. Surveillance footage shows him approaching the counter before handing the teller a note and shouting that it was a robbery.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man suddenly dropped the act, fleeing the scene without the limp and leaving stunned witnesses behind. Authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident.
Police released surveillance images and are urging the public to help identify the suspect, describing the heist as unusually deceptive and well-planned. Investigators believe the man may have used the fake injury as a distraction to lower suspicion before executing his escape.
The Slidell Police Department is continuing its investigation and asks anyone with information to contact local authorities immediately.
