At least six people were reportedly injured Sunday night during a major hafgana in Beit Shemesh protesting the arrest of newlywed yeshiva bochur Yaari Lieberman.
The demonstrations erupted after military police arrested Lieberman while he was traveling with his kallah to their Sheva Brachos celebration.
Police deployed stun grenades as confrontations intensified. Among the injured were teenagers and a 21-year-old who suffered a serious leg injury. Emergency responders transported several people to hospitals.
Police accused protesters of throwing stones and blocking roads, while disputing allegations that officers caused injuries involving concrete barriers.
Following widespread protests in Beit Shemesh and Yerushalayim, Lieberman was released from military prison Monday morning after intervention by senior officials and legal representatives.
