Part of a building undergoing renovation collapsed Wednesday morning on Nachlat Binyamin Street in Tel Aviv, near Rothschild Boulevard. Security camera footage captured the dramatic moment as a man sitting on a nearby bench stood up and ran while other pedestrians fled the area as the structure came down in a cloud of dust. The three-story building was unoccupied at the time because it was in the midst of renovation or reinforcement work. Rescue and medical teams from Magen David Adom, along with Yarkon District police officers and firefighters, rushed to the scene within minutes. Crews immediately began searching through the rubble to determine whether anyone remained trapped. Early reports indicated that several construction workers had exited the building just before the collapse. Authorities confirmed there were no immediate reports of injuries.
Police closed several nearby intersections, including those at Herzl and Ahad Ha’am, Nachlat Binyamin and Montefiore, and Rothschild and Nachlat Binyamin, to manage traffic and secure the area. Home Front Command forces also arrived to assist with the response. Officials noted that the building had been empty of residents for weeks due to the ongoing construction project. Preliminary assessments pointed to a possible technical failure during the renovation process, though a full investigation is underway. Nearby residents and business owners described hearing a loud boom and initially fearing a terror attack before realizing the cause was structural. Emergency services continued stabilizing the remaining portion of the building to prevent further collapse while completing their search of the debris. The incident disrupted morning traffic in one of Tel Aviv’s central commercial and residential zones.
