Assemblyman Aron Benzion Wieder Secures $150,000 in State Grants for Piermont
Assemblyman Aron Benzion Wieder recently sat down with Piermont Mayor Nathan Mitchell and Trustee Jeff Gordon to discuss the village's urgent needs and how he can continue advocating for them in Albany.
During the meeting, Assemblyman Wieder shared the welcome news that he has successfully secured $50,000 in state funding to purchase new radios for the local police and fire departments. The upgraded equipment is crucial for ensuring seamless communication between emergency responders, ultimately keeping the community safer.
Mayor Mitchell then raised another pressing issue: the critical need to overhaul the drainage system on Ritie Street. The much-needed infrastructure upgrade is a costly project that would typically place a heavy financial burden on local taxpayers.
In response, Assemblyman Wieder delivered more good news, announcing an additional $100,000 state grant specifically allocated for the project. The funds will go directly toward installing a proper stormwater management system to control rainwater and prevent future flooding and property damage.
"I am very pleased to be able to help Piermont with these important projects," Assemblyman Wieder said. "This will protect homes from flooding while lifting the financial burden off the shoulders of local residents."
Mayor Mitchell and Trustee Gordon expressed their deep appreciation for the Assemblyman's tireless efforts. They emphasized that this state support will make a tremendous difference in protecting public safety and resolving long-standing infrastructure issues in the village.
