Passengers arriving at Ben Gurion Airport over the weekend faced lengthy waits for taxis, with queues reportedly stretching into the terminal as travelers struggled to find transportation.
Footage broadcast by Israel's Channel 12 showed large numbers of passengers waiting for taxis amid limited public transportation services during Shabbos, when regular train and bus services were unavailable.
The situation sparked a dispute over responsibility for the transportation shortages. Zohar Golan, chairman of a taxi drivers' association, argued that independent taxi drivers should not be expected to provide the only transportation solution during weekends.
The delays renewed concerns about the difficulties passengers face when arriving at the airport during periods when regular public transportation is suspended.
The incident highlighted the challenges of managing airport transportation demand during Shabbos and the need for better arrangements to accommodate arriving travelers.
