DEATH FROM ABOVE: Houthi Drones Rain Bombs Into Saudi-Backed Trenches
Chilling drone footage released by Houthi forces is showing just how deadly cheap aerial tactics have become in Yemen's desert war. The video shows unguided bombs falling from high above, apparently landing with striking precision on trenches and fortified positions held by Saudi-backed forces. Multiple blasts erupt across the lines, sending thick smoke plumes and fires rising over the sand. The Houthis are clearly using the clip to show off how low-cost drones can turn dug-in defenders into targets, though the footage comes from the Houthis themselves and its full impact has not been independently verified.
The video lands in the middle of renewed fighting in October 2026 and fits a much larger escalation across the region. In recent days, the Houthis have claimed missile and drone attacks on Saudi airports and military sites, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport, while the Saudi-led coalition says it has intercepted some of the incoming missiles. Those strikes come as Saudi-backed Yemeni forces push a major ground and air offensive along the Red Sea coast, aiming to retake territory the Houthis seized last month near the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait. With both sides trading blows on the ground, in the air, and across the border, the battlefield is getting more dangerous by the day, and cheap drone warfare is quickly becoming one of its defining features.
