The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Thursday that it conducted a series of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon and the eastern Beqaa Valley. According to an official statement, the operations were aimed at dismantling Hezbollah’s military capabilities, which have grown increasingly active near Israel’s northern border.
The IDF emphasized that the targets included weapons storage facilities, command centers, and logistical hubs used by Hezbollah operatives. These precision strikes were carried out in direct response to ongoing provocations and rocket launches directed toward northern Israeli communities, which have endangered civilian lives and violated Israel’s sovereignty.
Israeli officials noted that the Lebanese government and army have consistently failed to disarm Hezbollah, despite longstanding international resolutions—most notably United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for the disarmament of all non-state militias in Lebanon. As a result, Hezbollah continues to operate freely within Lebanese territory, using civilian areas as shields for its weapons and operations.
The Israeli government reiterated its position that it will not tolerate further aggression from Hezbollah or any other Iranian-backed proxies operating in Lebanon. Officials underscored that Israel’s defensive actions are conducted with precision and restraint, with the sole purpose of neutralizing immediate threats and protecting the safety of its citizens.
Analysts note that the latest strikes send a clear message: Israel will act decisively against those who endanger its borders and security. The operation underscores Israel’s unwavering resolve to prevent Hezbollah from establishing advanced military capabilities along the northern front, especially amid rising tensions in the region.
While the Lebanese government has yet to issue a formal response, observers suggest that continued inaction from Beirut only deepens its complicity in Hezbollah’s militarization. Israel’s leadership has repeatedly called on the international community to pressure Lebanon to uphold its commitments and prevent Hezbollah from dragging the region into a wider conflict.
The IDF stated that it remains fully prepared for any escalation, affirming that the defense of Israeli sovereignty and citizens remains its top priority.
