French automotive startup Aemotion is developing a groundbreaking tandem-style electric microcar designed for urban environments. The vehicle, named the Dual, is a tilting two-seater with a narrow chassis that allows agile navigation through city traffic while offering the safety and enclosure of a traditional car.
According to the company, the Dual will feature a top speed of 115 km/h and a maximum range of 200 kilometers on a single charge. The microcar is scheduled for commercial release in 2026, with a purchase price estimated between €20,000 and €25,000. A monthly subscription option of €200 per month will also be available, appealing to commuters seeking flexible urban mobility solutions.
Promotional video footage demonstrates the Dual leaning into corners like a motorcycle while maintaining the stability and protection of an enclosed vehicle. Its compact design is ideal for congested streets and narrow lanes, with the video showcasing maneuverability around iconic Paris landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower.
Aemotion’s approach combines electric propulsion with tilting technology, positioning the Dual as a unique option in the growing micro-mobility market. Industry analysts note that the vehicle could appeal to city dwellers looking for sustainable, efficient, and maneuverable transport without sacrificing the comfort and safety of conventional cars.
The startup plans to begin pre-orders in late 2025, with production and deliveries ramping up ahead of its full 2026 launch.
