A military-style tractor-trailer led law enforcement on a dangerous, hour-long chase through Harris County overnight, forcing the shutdown of the Eastex Freeway and ending with a SWAT response and the arrest of the driver.

Authorities said the incident began when an off-duty deputy witnessed a hit-and-run crash involving injuries. Deputies responding to the scene quickly located a large military-style tractor-trailer operating without license plates. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and fled.

During the pursuit, officials say the suspect struck at least ten vehicles and attempted to ram multiple law enforcement units, escalating the situation and prompting additional resources to be deployed. Cell phone video captured portions of the chase as it moved along major roadways, creating significant public safety concerns.

After more than an hour, the vehicle was finally brought to a stop. Deputies attempted to make verbal contact with the driver, but when those efforts failed, SWAT was called to the scene. Authorities deployed gas to force the suspect out of the vehicle, after which he surrendered without further incident.

The driver, identified as a 53-year-old Hispanic male, was taken into custody. No additional details about charges or injuries have been released, but officials confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.

Law enforcement praised the coordinated response, noting that the prolonged pursuit posed a serious risk to both officers and the public.
