A massive fire tore through a construction site in Lehi, Utah, on Sunday morning, engulfing a four-story apartment complex and spreading quickly to nearby structures and vehicles. The blaze erupted around 10:17 a.m. near Traverse Mountain, sending thick plumes of smoke visible for miles across Utah County.

Fire officials reported that the flames spread rapidly due to high winds and construction materials on-site, igniting an adjacent building and two tractors before firefighters managed to contain the blaze by early afternoon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the structure was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud explosion moments before the fire erupted, prompting authorities to open a full investigation into the cause. Lehi Fire Department officials confirmed they are reviewing multiple reports and examining the scene for evidence of accelerants or equipment failure.  

The apartment complex, still under development, represented one of several new projects expanding in the growing Traverse Mountain area. The destruction is expected to delay construction timelines and may raise safety concerns as officials note a recent rise in construction-site fires across Utah.

Local authorities have urged residents to avoid the area as cleanup and safety inspections continue. Fire investigators are working alongside insurance and safety experts to determine the source of the explosion reports and prevent similar incidents in the future.  

Despite the intensity of the blaze, firefighters from multiple Utah County departments were able to prevent the flames from reaching occupied homes nearby, a success officials hailed as a testament to swift coordination and professional response.
