Russian President Vladimir Putin has vowed to strengthen Russia’s naval power as he officially commissioned a new nuclear-powered submarine during a high-profile ceremony on Thursday. The event, held at a naval base, underscores the Kremlin’s ongoing emphasis on nuclear deterrence and military expansion amid continued conflict in Ukraine.

The submarine, part of Russia’s latest efforts to modernize its strategic fleet, is equipped with advanced stealth and weapons systems. Speaking at the ceremony, Putin emphasized the importance of enhancing Russia’s naval presence to ensure national security and maritime dominance.

“Our fleet’s development will remain a top priority,” he said, adding that Russia will continue to invest heavily in advanced military technologies.

The commissioning comes as global tensions remain high over the war in Ukraine, and follows recent large-scale military exercises involving Russia’s Navy and strategic forces.
