U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner issued strong criticism of Democratic mayors in cities like Chicago, Baltimore, and Los Angeles, accusing them of failing to address key issues such as housing, crime, and poverty.

“You have to care about the people that you serve. President Trump does. Do the mayors of Chicago, Baltimore, and LA?” Turner asked, arguing that these problems are non-partisan concerns that affect everyone.

Turner likened conditions in some urban neighborhoods to “war zones,” citing both community concerns and personal accounts of crime. He highlighted the case of a reporter who was recently mugged at gunpoint in Washington, D.C., to emphasize the severity of the situation.

The HUD Secretary said housing, public safety, and poverty alleviation require leadership that prioritizes people over politics, urging city officials to take stronger action. His remarks reflect a broader push by the Trump administration to spotlight urban challenges while contrasting federal initiatives with local governance.
