The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have uncovered two Hamas tunnels hidden beneath hospitals in Gaza City, revealing further evidence of the militant group’s use of civilian infrastructure for military purposes.

Troops from the 36th Division and the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit discovered the first tunnel, approximately 1.5 kilometers long, near the Jordanian Hospital. Inside, soldiers found a weapons workshop and several rooms believed to have served as command quarters for Hamas leaders. The IDF stressed that the operation was conducted without the involvement or knowledge of the Jordanian medical staff.

A second tunnel was later identified beneath Hamad Hospital, reinforcing Israeli claims that Hamas has systematically embedded its operations in sensitive civilian areas. “The Hamas terror organization systematically operates in hospital areas, exploiting humanitarian facilities for military purposes,” the IDF stated.

Both tunnels are currently being mapped for demolition, with IDF forces expanding searches to other suspected locations across Gaza. The discovery highlights ongoing concerns about Hamas’s military entrenchment beneath vital civilian infrastructure.
