Two Delta Air Lines planes collided on a taxiway at LaGuardia Airport in New York on Wednesday night, prompting an investigation but no reported injuries.
According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the “low-speed collision” occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Eastern Time between Endeavor Air Flight 5047, which had just arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina, and Endeavor Flight 5155, scheduled to depart for Roanoke, Virginia. Endeavor Air operates as a regional subsidiary of Delta.
Emergency crews responded immediately to the scene, and both aircraft returned to the gate for inspection. Passengers were safely deplaned and later rebooked on alternate flights.
Delta Air Lines confirmed the incident in a statement, saying safety teams were “conducting a full review” of what caused the taxiway collision. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also launched an investigation.
While no serious damage was reported, the incident briefly disrupted nighttime operations at LaGuardia, one of the nation’s busiest airports.
