A Mexican Navy Beechcraft King Air 350i crashed on December 22, 2025, in foggy conditions over Galveston Bay, Texas, during a medical transport mission, killing five people and leaving one missing. The aircraft was carrying eight passengers, including a 1- or 2-year-old child burns patient, medical personnel, and Navy members, en route to Shriners Children's Hospital for urgent treatment.
Among the deceased were three Mexican Navy personnel—Lt. Víctor Rafael Pérez Hernández, Lt. Juan Iván Zaragoza Flores, and Marinero Guadalupe Flores Barranco—along with the child patient Federico Efraín Ramírez Cruz and Dr. Juan Alfonso Adame González. Lt. Luis Enrique Castillo Terrones remains missing. Two survivors, nurse Miriam de Jesús Rosas Mancilla and companion Julia Aracelis Cruz Vera, were hospitalized after being rescued.
Eyewitnesses credited local yacht captain Sky Decker with helping save one of the survivors. Decker said he guided police officers to the nearly submerged plane and jumped in to free a trapped, injured woman from the fuselage, which was partially filled with jet fuel. “She had maybe three inches of air gap to breathe in… and there was jet fuel in the water. She was really fighting for her life,” he said.
The flight was part of a humanitarian mission coordinated by the Michou y Mau Foundation, which provides care for Mexican children suffering severe burns. The Mexican Navy, in cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard, has been conducting ongoing search and rescue operations in the area.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have opened investigations into the accident, which occurred during the aircraft’s final approach to Scholes International Airport under heavy fog conditions. Recovery and investigative efforts continue as authorities work to determine the cause of the crash.
