A Naples, Florida family received an unexpected and unsettling surprise in the early hours of December 30 after discovering a massive alligator calmly swimming in their backyard pool.

The family contacted authorities after spotting the reptile taking a midnight dip, prompting a swift response from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission trappers.
