AUSTIN, Texas — Passengers on a Delta Air Lines Boeing 737 faced a frightening moment when a wing flap appeared to break midair, just before landing at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Video taken by a passenger shows a portion of the flap partially detached, sparking alarm among those on board. Despite the damage, the flight landed safely and without incident.
Delta confirmed the aircraft was immediately taken out of service for inspection and repairs.
While aviation experts note that modern jets are designed with multiple redundancies to handle such situations, the incident highlights why in-flight mechanical issues can be so unnerving for travelers.
No injuries were reported, and passengers disembarked normally.
