SOUTHERN ISRAEL — A drone strike targeted Ramon Airport, located just north of Eilat, in what officials say was a rare breach of Israel’s air defenses.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), one unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck the airport, while three others were intercepted before reaching their targets. The drone that hit Ramon reportedly evaded detection by the Air Force and was only reported after impact.
Preliminary findings indicate at least two people sustained light injuries. Authorities are continuing to assess the extent of damage and reviewing how the UAV bypassed defense systems.
Senior Houthi official Nasruddin Amer claimed responsibility, calling it “a unique and distinct military operation,” and warning that airports and other sensitive sites remain under threat. He urged foreigners to leave, adding, “The enemy’s airports are not safe.”
The source and route of the UAVs are still under investigation, as Israeli officials work to evaluate the broader security implications of the attack.
