Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stood in the Jordan Valley near Kibbutz Massada and inspected the massive new barrier rising along Israel’s entire eastern border. He was joined by Defense Minister Israel Katz, Borders and Seam Line Administration head Maj.-Gen. Eran Ofir, Division 96 Commander Brig.-Gen. Oren Simcha, and other senior officers. The barrier stretches from the Yarmouk River all the way to Eilat and forms a continuous physical shield designed to stop any attempt to invade. Netanyahu described the project as an addition to the security zones already held in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that the barrier is only one part of a larger system that includes dedicated forces, detailed work plans, and anti-drone measures. The message to Israel’s enemies, he said, is simple and clear: do not test us.
Netanyahu stressed the enormous scale of the engineering and logistical effort now underway, which requires full mobilization of the IDF and reserve units. He framed the entire project as maximum defense meant to protect Israeli citizens and remove any thought of infiltration from the east. Defense Minister Katz added that the barrier and accompanying forces remain secondary to Israel’s primary strategy of active, proactive offense. That offensive policy, he said, targets both distant threats such as Iran and closer dangers with the goal of destroying enemies and eliminating risks before they can strike. Together the leaders presented the eastern barrier as a powerful new layer of security that completes the circle of protection around the country while the IDF continues to take the fight to its adversaries.
