SOUNI, CYPRUS — Firefighters and emergency crews are working around the clock to contain a wildfire that erupted near the village of Souni in Limassol province, Cyprus.

The blaze, which began earlier in the day, quickly spread through dry vegetation fueled by high winds and extreme heat, threatening nearby homes and infrastructure. In response, ground teams and aerial firefighting units, including helicopters, were deployed to the scene.

“It’s a challenging situation due to the terrain and wind conditions,” a firefighting official stated. “Our teams are doing everything possible to contain the fire and protect the community.”

Authorities have not reported any injuries at this time, but residents in affected areas have been urged to stay alert and follow evacuation instructions if necessary.

Cyprus frequently faces wildfires during the summer months, with Limassol province being one of the most vulnerable regions due to its forested landscape and arid conditions.
