Firefighters in Greece are battling a massive wildfire that has engulfed the town of Keratea in the East Attica region. The blaze, which has already consumed an estimated 15,808 acres according to the National Observatory of Athens, continues to spread amid dry, windy conditions.
At least one person has been confirmed dead, and emergency crews are working around the clock to contain the flames and protect nearby homes. Authorities have issued evacuation orders for several communities, warning that the situation could worsen if high winds persist.
The disaster adds to a series of intense wildfires Greece has faced in recent years, driven by extreme heat and prolonged drought linked to climate change.
