A couple in Guernsey got far more than they bargained for after moving into their new home — a hidden piece of World War II history.
While renovating, they lifted their floors to reveal a fully intact Nazi bunker, sealed since the 1940s. The underground hideout bore chilling relics of its past, including German warnings painted on the walls, such as “beware, the enemy is listening.”
During the war, Hitler’s forces heavily fortified the Channel Islands, transforming them into strategic strongholds. The bunker’s discovery offers a rare, untouched glimpse into the wartime occupation and the island’s role in Nazi defenses.
Local historians have expressed interest in preserving the site, which may contain further artifacts from the era.
