This morning, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers were seen maneuvering through the snow-covered summit of Mount Hermon, demonstrating their operational resilience in extreme winter conditions. Mountain Brigade troops conducted patrols on the Syrian side of the strategic peak amid Storm Byron's gale-force winds and icy terrain, showcasing Israel’s ability to maintain security even under harsh weather.

Mount Hermon is a site of critical importance due to its elevation, which provides commanding views over Lebanon and Syria. Its strategic position enables the IDF to monitor potential threats from hostile groups that might exploit instability in the region, particularly in the post-Assad era in Syria.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has extended the IDF’s presence on Mount Hermon through 2025, emphasizing Israel’s commitment to preventing any security breaches from cross-border actors. The sustained operations underline the IDF’s preparedness to respond to threats in challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions, ensuring Israel’s northern border remains secure.

The ongoing patrols highlight the IDF’s dedication to operational continuity and strategic vigilance, reaffirming its readiness to defend national interests in one of the country’s most sensitive regions.
