Body-worn camera footage released by Bedfordshire Police shows the arrest of neo-Nazi extremist Harry Whittaker, who was taken into custody after authorities uncovered explosives and bomb-making materials at his home in May 2024. Whittaker, 33, has since been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.

Police say Whittaker constructed a homemade explosive device and stored chemicals in a makeshift laboratory inside a garden shed at the Bedfordshire village of Caddington, near Luton, where he lived with his mother. Investigators later determined that he had been experimenting with explosive materials while consuming extremist propaganda and engaging in racially motivated hatred.

The investigation began after Whittaker suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction on April 18, 2024, prompting him to call emergency services. When first responders arrived, concerns about hazardous substances on the property led police to conduct a thorough search, uncovering bomb-making components and dangerous chemicals.

Following his arrest, officers examined Whittaker’s electronic devices and found racist messages exchanged on WhatsApp, including threats and hateful remarks directed at Muslims and references to a mosque in Luton. Prosecutors said the messages demonstrated clear ideological motivation rooted in violent neo-Nazi extremism.

Authorities emphasized that the case highlights the ongoing threat posed by domestic extremism and the importance of early intervention. Police confirmed that no attack was carried out, crediting swift action and investigative diligence with preventing potential loss of life.
