A deadly multi-vehicle crash on a major downtown Los Angeles freeway early Sunday morning left one person dead and another critically injured, according to local authorities. The collision occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. on March 16, 2026, along the northbound 110 Freeway near 6th Street, an area that serves as a key traffic corridor through the city’s central district.

Emergency responders arriving at the scene encountered a chaotic and dangerous situation involving three vehicles, including one car that had overturned and was completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department worked quickly to extinguish the blaze while paramedics assessed the condition of those involved in the crash.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene despite the rapid response from emergency crews. Another individual who suffered severe injuries was transported urgently to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The alert has since been lifted and traffic flow has gradually returned to normal.
