In a wide-ranging interview with Patrick Bet-David, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was asked whether the October 7 Hamas attack would have taken place if former President Donald Trump had been in office.

Netanyahu avoided giving a definitive answer but suggested that Iran, which he views as Hamas’s chief backer, may have acted differently under Trump’s leadership. “Iran might have acted more cautiously,” he said, pointing to Trump’s unpredictable style and strong stance on the region.

The Prime Minister contrasted Trump’s policies with those of President Joe Biden, noting that while Trump provided consistent support for Israel, Biden has at times threatened embargoes.

Looking forward, Netanyahu also touched on Gaza’s future, raising the possibility of U.S. involvement in reconstruction efforts once the conflict stabilizes. He stressed that rebuilding the region could only happen alongside security guarantees that prevent Hamas or other militant groups from regaining control.

The remarks highlight both Netanyahu’s continued alignment with Trump’s Middle East approach and his cautious optimism about American support in shaping post-war Gaza.
