WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump took aim at Democrats during recent remarks, suggesting they would not support an extension measure he expects Republicans to back.

“I think the Republicans will vote for an extension… We wouldn’t get one vote from the Democrats because they’ve lost their minds,” Trump said.

He went on to criticize his political rivals, claiming they suffer from what he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The president joked about the term, adding: “They’ve got it.”

The phrase has long been used by Trump and his allies to describe what they view as extreme opposition to his policies and leadership. His comments are the latest in a series of sharp partisan exchanges as debates continue on Capitol Hill.
