Dramatic dashcam footage released by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office captures the chaotic end of a New Year’s Eve police pursuit in East Texas, where a suspect flipped his SUV and then smashed through the windshield in a desperate attempt to escape on foot.

According to authorities, deputies initiated a traffic stop that quickly escalated into a high-speed chase through Nacogdoches. The pursuit ended when the suspect lost control of his vehicle, causing the SUV to overturn violently. Despite the crash, the suspect was not deterred and immediately attempted to flee.

Video shows the suspect punching through the windshield from inside the overturned vehicle, sustaining a severe arm injury in the process. He then exited the SUV and ran from the scene, but deputies quickly apprehended him a short distance away.

The suspect was identified as Michael Foluso Thomas. Law enforcement officials confirmed that he was taken into custody, provided medical treatment for his injuries, and later booked into jail. During a search of the overturned SUV, deputies reportedly discovered evidence pointing to a large-scale fraud operation.

Thomas now faces multiple charges, including evading arrest, resisting arrest, and several fraud-related offenses. Investigators believe the materials found inside the vehicle link him to an organized fraud scheme, though authorities have not yet released further details on the scope of the operation.

Sheriff’s officials praised the responding deputies for their swift and controlled response, noting that no officers or bystanders were seriously injured during the incident. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to examine evidence recovered from the vehicle.
